After high school, I do plan on going to collage. Right now I want to major most in communications. The jobs I am listing below our from communications and education majors.
INTERIOR DESIGNER:
The average annual pay for an interior designer in the United States is $48,500. But, in California the average annual pay is $57,800. I think the reason it's higher in California is because California is know for having many wealthy neighborhoods, so interior designers in California design larger and more elaborate homes. Typically for this job you need a Bachelor's degree. For this occupation you need to think creatively and be able to interact with different types of people.
RADIO/TELEVISION ANNOUNCER:
The average annual pay for a radio/television announcer is $54,640. It could b higher though depending how popular the radio station or TV show is. The wage may change geographically, but it really just depends. For this job, you usually need to have an associate's degree and training in vocational schools. To be a radio/television announcer you need to have a strong, clear voice and be able to convey information effectively.
ELEMENTARY SCHOOL TEACHER:
Unlike the other jobs I listed, this jobs major is education instead of communications. The average annual pay for an elementary school teacher is $69,320. This wage should not differ geographically, but it does depend on what type of school you teach at; public, private, charter, etc. In order to be an elementary school teacher you need a 4-year Bachelor's degree. For this job you need to instruct, listen, monitor, and have plenty of patience.
Marisa, I think these jobs sound great, and this blog post is very detailed! All of these jobs require likeability, kindness (especially the teacher), and effective communication skills - all of which you have. I think picking a communications major would be a smart move because it opens you up to lots of jobs. Good luck!
