I am interested in the field of biology. I have always found how living thing works and functions, especially humans, very fascinating. I hope to pursue my career hopefully as a pharmacist, biomedical engineer, or optometrist.
As a pharmacist, you make $111,570 annually before taxes. That is very good pay and you need a doctoral degree. Salaries don't differ a lot according to the place you work. As a pharmacist, you need need to be a detailed and organized person so you are to memorize the side effects and the use for many medication. You also need to be somewhat social so you can handle dealing with and talking to your patients about their medical needs.
As a biomedical engineer, you make make an average of $79,610 before taxes. This is still very good pay and you need a master's degree to become a substantial biomedical engineer. Salaries don't vary much according to location and as a biomedical engineer, you don't need to have an extrovert personality, but have to be able comfortable working with groups of people to develop new technologies.
As an optometrist, you make on average $115,827 before taxes. This is high pay but you need a doctoral degree to become a certified optometrist. Salaries don't very much place to place because people everywhere have many issues with their eyes that needs to be taken care of. As a optometrist, you need to have a very careful and detail-oriented personality to treat your patients well.
Wow, it's suprising how high all these salaries are. I guess the price of medical school pays off in the end. However, I find the idea of extra schooling (and extra student debts) very unappealing, so I'm not sure if I would ever consider going into the medical field. But I have also never had a whim to become a doctor, so I'm assuming if you're passionate about being a medical professional, the extra schooling isn't that big of an issue.
