Positive ways in which I used the Work Readiness Skills in my internship include:
1) I was able to communicate well with team members through social media and Google Drive to prepare for an interview we conducted later on. I learned that you should always start on projects early so that you don't have to rush to complete them before a certain deadline.
2) I was honest in that the interview questions I sent to my supervisor didn't get to her email somehow, but I explained the situation and resolved it. I learned that it's best to be completely honest in a workplace situation because otherwise, things will get more confusing than necessary.
Ways in which I my Work Readiness Skill weakness/area of growth held me back or caused me to have to work harder are:
1) I was not entirely diligent because I procrastinated researching my interviewee and coming up with questions to ask her until near the deadline. Thus, I had to work harder to meet the deadline.
Chloe, as I'm in the same internship as you, I saw all of this and was really impressed with your communicating abilities. It was because of your communication that our interview went so smoothly. I had a hard time communicating as efficiently as you. Do you have any suggestions?
ReplyDelete@Geffen: That is some really good, specific feedback
ReplyDelete@Chloe: it would be great if you could share some of your strengths in communication (specific examples or strategies) with the class!
Geffen, I suppose I just frequently check my emails and other social media and I try to get back to everyone asap. I've also learned through my journalism classes that it's always best to start projects early because otherwise, things won't be completed until the day before they're due - it's just human nature to procrastinate.
ReplyDeleteIt's really difficult to admit to a supervisor that something may have gone wrong; I struggle with that. I think it's awesome that you were able to be completely honest and resolve the issue.
