This week at my internship I finalized the three videos that I was making. They were all about the problems that aging investors face, more specifically about the symptoms of Dementia. I used a program called Powtoon to create animated introductions and conclusions for all three videos, and then inserted them into the videos. I also did a few tweaks to the videos, including removing some green bars around them. I had trouble sleeping this week, so I was not as productive as I could have been.
My Triumphs
- Is honest — I generally tried to be honest with my boss while working on my videos. I would honestly admit my progress, and even admitted to being lazy while not on the job.
- Acts with Diligence — I generally tried to make sure that I understood what to do and I often discussed projects with my boss, sometimes even showing examples, to ensure that I was good with them.
My Fails
- Is tolerant and respectful — Although I was generally okay at this, when the boss consistently complained about the video being out of sync, I ignored the issue, claiming it to be a result of lag. I am not sure how right I am, but I am only now looking into the issue.
- Can communicate effectively — Talking with others is something I am not naturally good at, due to my slight Autism and general habit of working alone. Because of this, I have a difficult time discussing issues with the videos with my boss. The desync issue with my boss is not the only example. I also had a little bit of difficulty in describing some of the side effects of removing the green bars. It took some time for me to explain that cropping the green bars would out black bars in their place, however we were able to work out a solution.
Next week, I will be doing my work independently at home, as the boss will be on vacation. Hopefully I will be able to fix the desync issues and get some sleep so I am more productive.
