Work Readiness at Internship

This week in my internship I demonstrated the importance of literacy within a workplace. The radio station was running a bit behind schedule, so when the 2:00pm required station identification and public service announcement readings came around, I had to read them on the air without having read over them in the past. I learned that without literacy, my readings would have been far less fluid, and likely would have been unclear and choppy to a listener.

This week I also practiced diligence when I was operating the radio's soundboard for a an interview segment. I had to be extremely careful with the microphone volumes, backround music, and timing, which would not have been at all possible had I not been paying close attention to make sure the job was done without error. I learned that in order to carry out a job to its fullest potential, one must always work with diligence and give their complete and undivided attention to any given task.

  1. It sounds like your internship is very intense and hands on. That is exactly the type of work that you need diligence for, so it's good you have been using that work readiness skill!

  2. It shows improvement when you're able to read on the air without having to read it over first. Your internship sounds really cool, and you've showed how you learned to focus closely on everything that's going on, although it may require extremely close attention to detail. Good job!
